Lessons learned from 150 years of technological disruption in the labor market
Just started reading this excellent series and as a farm kid from the 1960s/70s I really appreciate your farm employment post. I provided a fair amount of that manual "power" and surely had greater enjoyment from driving the tractor.
I was going to suggest telephone operators as a category of employment to look at, and found that this category is well treated both in this post and in some academic journal articles that are linked from the post: https://conversableeconomist.com/2024/08/19/telephone-operators-the-elimination-of-a-job/
I think you mean to say "I'll take the under" or am I misreading? You think it will be under 30 percent. Interesting series, thanks!
